Congress let federal unemployment benefits expire for 1.3 million jobless workers on Dec. 28, deserting unemployed workers during the holidays.

Call Congress now at 845-809-4509. Tell them to get to work and extend unemployment insurance benefits.

Our economy is fragile- millions of people remain without work and good jobs are still hard to come by. Now isn't the time to leave jobless workers out in the cold.    Red Wing Boot Recall:
The UA Safety & Health Department has issued a
notice regarding a Red Wing Boot recall, effecting 45 styles of Red Wing men's
boots. Due to a defect, the steel toe cap could fail to protect an individual's foot in
the event of an impact. Click here to identify the style numbers included in the
recall. It has been suggested that consumers stop wearing the recalled boots
immediately, and return them to a Red Wing store/distributor or contact Red Wing
Shoes for a free replacement pair of boots.

Pride and Safety: Two unfortunate incidents involving trade workers have recently sparked much attention locally and nationally. You can read a message here from the Insulators General President James Grogan regarding an incident at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant and another at a uranium processing plant in Illinois. His message is a good reminder about the importance of professionalism, quality work, and above all else, safety on the jobsite. The actions of a few can have serious consequences for many. Strive to make your Union proud at every job, every day; work like your job depends on it, because it does.
